Bedhead.

Someone done got their hair did!

This is what Ruby looks like when she wakes up from a nap. SO happy, and with the most bizarre hair ever seen on a baby. As I mentioned to a dear friend recently, it's like she uses a diffuser in there when she's by herself. (Sorry Mave, I had to recycle this one; it was just too good.)

My first Mother's Day.

Last weekend we enjoyed the fabulosity of birthdays and Mother's Days and weekend days and lovely, sunshiney days.

Nikki's birthday at the beach

Mother's Day at home...
Look at my awesome new toy! I'm going to get a flag and a basket for it. It's so beautiful. It's my favorite thing ever. After Ruby but before my compost bin.

And then on Sunday, we went to the park for a big, fat Mother's Day picnic.

Not too shabby a weekend, all in all.

Eating with gusto!

Just thought I'd document a typical meal around here these days. Ruby prefers to feed herself (read: pretty much refuses to be spoon-fed by me or anyone else), so I try to come up with a lot of meals and snacks that are finger-friendly. Today was soup -- which, if you're not an out-of-the-box thinker like our Rubykins, does not at first appear to be a finger food. But that's where you'd be wrong. To wit:

The relative calm before/in the midst of the soup storm.

Munch, munch, munch...

Chomp, chomp, chomp... (I'm trying to imply that she's like Cookie Monster here -- surely you got that, right?)

It's finger lickin', it's finger lickin' good, y'all...

Hallelieujah, I love food! Praise Jesus, I love soup!

'Twas laundry day here at the deBarongentzi's, so yes, that is part of an old t-shirt tied around my baby's neck.

And, because she doesn't let anything go to waste, here we are splashing around in the leftover broth.

Vacaysh backblogging.

We went to Cabo a few weeks ago, and I'm just now getting around to posting about it.

Why do I bother buying things like excersaucers?

...When a laundry basket provides just as much fun, if not more?

What really boggles the mind is that she only started crawling less than a month ago. In that time, she's sped up her crawling to approximately 5 mph, figured out how to pull herself up to standing, starting to practice letting go and standing on her own, and now "cruising" (walking sideways, holding on to furniture for support). For some reason, she only cruises to the left though. Huh.

Check in in another three weeks when we'll be tackling sprinting, hurdling, sliding into third, half-moon pose, and levitation.
